- Collection steps:
- Tax collector can issue demand notices and liens if unpaid.
- Liens typically attach to the property automatically by law on the assessment date (Oct 1).
- Redemption period (tax sale):
- If your property is sold at a municipal tax auction, you generally have a 6-month redemption period to pay the taxes, interest, and costs to reclaim the property.
- Redemption requires payment in full of delinquent taxes, accrued interest, legal fees, and auction costs.

- Lien recording fees (town clerk charges to record lien and release).
